2002 Lincoln Blackwood - monster truck version

by ZOtm_BigDOGGe

 This is a replica I made of the Ultra-luxury $54,000 Blackwood Pick-up/SUV.

I started with a Ford F-150 body for a base (the 2 trucks share a few similarities in the mid-section). Molding, shaping and fabricating took place to get the Lincoln shape, then new Blackwood body texture paint was created and applied. After finishing the body, I decided to create a monster version for the "2003 MTMG Monster Truck Madness-2 Expo." An ST version will come later for small tire compatible tracks.

I enlarged the wheelwells to clear the 66-inch tires, and added a modern MT frame set-up below. 4-into-1 headers exhaust the hot stuff, and the driveshaft/transfer case get the power to the wheels (twin belt-driven centrifugal blowers feed the engine, so no blowers or dual-carb set-ups project thru the hood, preserving the original lines. Even though the real truck is only available in 2-wheel drive, this one is a 4x4.

Four long travel coil-over shocks connect the axles to the truck proper, and all lights are functional. My signature "WOOF" license plate sits on the back bumper, and a fuel tank was placed below the bed.

Finally, a custom "LINCOLN BLACKWOOD" .wav file was included.

-Real truck description-

New for 2002! The 4-door, 4-passenger Blackwood....part Lincoln Navigator, part pickup truck.

Features a 300-horsepower V8 engine, a leather and wood-trimmed interior, and a distinctive box-like trunk with Dutch-style doors and a power-operated tonneau cover.

History:
The popularity of the Lincoln Navigator and the continued evolution of utility vehicles led to the development of Blackwood. Lincoln describes it as the ultimate utility vehicle, with all the comfort of a luxury sedan and the convenience and versatility of a sport-utility vehicle. First unveiled at the 1999 Los Angeles Auto Show, the Blackwood concept was shown at several auto shows in 1999, including the North American International Auto Show and Frankfurt Motor Show. Enthusiastic public reaction toward the concept prompted Lincoln to approve Blackwood for production.

The name Blackwood refers to the rear truck bed exterior. The bed's creative design mirrors that of classic wooden motorboats. Best described by Lincoln as a photo-laminated process, the panels accurately record the image of wood bands, each of which is defined by brushed-aluminum stripes. The composite panels look great and add to the Blackwood's allure. The interior of the bed resembles the rear cargo area of a Lexus. The polished steel liner features carpeting, along with a power tonneau cover that completes the image perfectly. Most tonneau covers are manually lifted and need to be secured by a lock. Not here. This is an electric lifting tonneau cover, which is user-friendly because it holds itself up. Once up, you can un-latch the split Dutch-style rear doors and open one side at a time. This is nice for loading into the back. Carpeted, illuminated and polished, it's perfect for hauling your groceries or dry cleaning.

Blackwood's front half is as captivating as the rear end. The spitting image of the Navigator, it features the distinctive Lincoln grille and luxurious lines carved into the hood and magnificent deep-gloss black paint. It is capped off with 18-inch rims and low profile tires.

Blackwood is power packaged with a 300-horsepower 5.4-liter, 4-valve In-Tech engine, combined with a smooth 4-speed automatic transmission. You'll experience smooth gearing, coupled with perfectly timed engine revs that glide you from 1st through 4th gear cleanly and effortlessly. The traction control system manages wheel spin and control at all times. Great control and nearly perfect front-to-rear weight balance, nicely tuned suspension, acceleration-sensitive dampers, speed-sensitive power steering and the 18" wheels and tires combine to provide luxury performance. 2-wheel-drive only.

Completing the package is a perfectly designed and comfortable interior, with soft lounge chairs and lots of amenities. Climate-controlled front seats feature thumbwheel controls at the base of the seat cushion, easily reachable and adjustable to cool or heat as needed. Unfortunately, the rear passenger seats don't include this luxury. However, they are bucket seats, which allow rear passengers to have their own seat. Other interior features include dark-stained crystal oak wood and leather-trimmed steering wheel that tilts and has speed controls, air-conditioning controls, and audio controls at your finger tips. Additional buttons control the sunroof, the powerful stereo system that includes a 6-disc CD changer, and the console-mounted navigational system.

If you demand luxury, performance and style, the Blackwood is perfect. Only 10,000 made in 2002. Only $54,495!
...and I hope you like black, which is the only color they come in.

NOTE: 2002 & 2003 were the only model years...
